The 2nd Meeting of the 5th Session of SZAST

      On March 28, Mr. Li Lianhe, president of SZAST, summarized the work in 2007 and pointed out the key work in 2008.  The 4th China (Shenzhen) International Interior Design Cultural Festival is viewed as a key event in the work of SZAST.  Mr. Li Yizhen, deputy mayor, spoke highly of it.

      Beginning from 2005, the cultural event takes place once every year, showing the development trends in interior design sector at home and abroad and focusing on different themes. With a wide range of activities such as high profile, high quality exhibitions, conferences, forums and academic exchanges, we at SZAID are working hard to set up an international exchange platform for design and brand, design and commerce, design and life.
The annual Interior Design Cultural Festival is very instrumental in helping people to respect professionals, design works and original ideas in the city, thus playing an increasing role in moving forward the design profession in China, exchange, cooperation and development in both domestic and international design community.

      In particular, the 3rd China (Shenzhen) International Interior Design Cultural Festival took place in December 2007 and turned out to be quite influential in the national interior design community and drew a lot of attention of the design sector at home and abroad. The event was put on the official website of International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI). The event is viewed as Shenzhen Key Cultural Industry Project.  The event is helpful to push the development of interior design and decorations sector, raise the status of interior designers and influence so that they will be more responsible and proud of the profession and passion at work.  Some designers and design firms will surely do better with their competitiveness, good reputations in the promising new century.

      The 4th China (Shenzhen) International Interior Design Cultural Festival is scheduled to start at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on November 15, 2008. The year 2008 is very important because we will continue to implement the spirits of the 17th National Congress of the Party, celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Reform and Opening up, 50th anniversary of China Association of Science and Technology(CAST), 26th anniversary of Shenzhen Association of Science and Technology.  Ms. Deng Nan, the first secretary of CAST, pointed out that this is the year we make the work of CAST a reality. Mr. Li Lianhe, president of SZAST, pointed out in his work report that we need to work creatively in the current favorable situations.

      We at SZAID will be working harder to prepare for the 4th Interior Design Cultural Festival and set up an academic platform in 2008 in order to make Shenzhen interior design sector global and boost the quality of citizens in scientific perspectives.
